How much does a contractor website cost in 2026?
What contractors actually pay for a website, what drives the price and the hidden costs to ask about before you sign anything.
Most contractors pay $1,000 to $5,000 for a professionally built website, plus about $50 to $300 a month for hosting, maintenance and updates. DIY builders cost a few hundred dollars a year but cost you time, and full agencies often start at $10,000. At Juve Consulting, contractor websites are a flat $1,200 to $3,500, and you see a free homepage mockup before you pay.
Contractor website prices at a glance
| Option | Up front | Best for | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| DIY builder (Wix, Squarespace) | About $200 to $500 a year | Brand-new businesses with more time than money | You write, design and maintain it yourself, usually at night |
| Template site | $500 to $2,000 | Getting a clean, basic site up fast | Often generic, with little local SEO setup |
| Professional custom build | $1,000 to $5,000 | Most established trade businesses | Quality varies a lot, so check the portfolio |
| Full-service agency | $10,000 and up | Large, multi-location companies | Long contracts and slow timelines are common |
Ranges are from Conductive Web's 2026 contractor website guide. On top of the build, expect roughly $50 to $300 a month for hosting, your domain, security, backups and small edits.
What drives the price up or down
- Number of pages. A 5-page site costs less than a 15-page site. Every service and every city you want to rank for usually needs its own page.
- Who writes the words. Custom copywriting for your trade and your market costs more than filling in a template, and it is usually worth it.
- Photos and galleries. Organizing your job photos into a real project gallery takes time. Stock photos are cheaper but win fewer jobs.
- Lead features. Estimate forms with photo upload, financing requests, live Google reviews and text-back buttons all add value and some cost.
- Branding. If you need a logo, business cards or truck lettering, that is a separate line item with most designers.
- Local SEO setup. Setting up your Google Business Profile, city pages and structured data is what gets you found. Cheap sites often skip it.
Hidden costs to ask about before you hire anyone
- Who owns the domain? It should be registered in your name. If the designer owns it, you can lose your web address when you leave.
- What is the monthly fee, and what does it cover? Get hosting, security, backups and edits spelled out in writing.
- How long is the contract? Some agencies lock contractors into 12 to 36 month agreements. Month to month is safer.
- Is the site rented or yours? Some companies lease you a site on their own platform. Stop paying and the site disappears.
- What do changes cost after launch? Adding a new service or city page should not require a whole new quote.
Will a website pay for itself?
Run the numbers on your own jobs. If your average job is $8,000 and a $2,000 website brings in one extra job, that job brings in four times what the site cost. For a plumber with a $1,800 average ticket, it takes about two jobs. The math only works if the site actually brings in calls, which is why speed, reviews and a tap-to-call button matter more than fancy design. BrightLocal Local Consumer Review Survey 2026 found that 97% of consumers read reviews for local businesses and 54% visit a business website after reading good reviews.

Common questions
Is a $500 website worth it for a contractor?
It can get you online, but cheap sites usually skip the things that bring in calls: service pages, city pages, a fast mobile layout and Google Business Profile setup. If the site does not produce leads, it was not cheap.
Should I pay monthly or up front for a website?
Either can work. What matters is that you own the site and domain when you are done paying. Be careful with monthly plans that never end and leave you with nothing if you cancel.
How long does it take to build a contractor website?
Anywhere from a few days to a few months. Juve Consulting sites go live in 3 to 7 business days, counted from the day we have your photos, logo and service list.
Do I need to pay for SEO separately?
Basic on-page SEO should come with any professional build. Ongoing work like new city pages, Google Business Profile posts and review requests is usually a monthly service.
